I am back waiting to see a physio as I do not want, and do not think, a surgeon would operate. In the meantime I do the exercises I was doing before as Dr Google implies they are the same.
I have not been working since I gave up working for my last job. Money will very soon become an issue. I want to work, but only on my terms, especially with the leg and other health issues. I always used to say it was easier to get a job than a man. Not sure I still believe that - though I am not looking for the latter.
I have been searching on https://www.indeed.co.uk/ mainly. And have learned the following:
- There is a lot of demand for teachers, fundraisers and those in the service industry
- I lack experience in all those areas
- My leg and probably the rest of me would not cope with standing for long periods of time, but I must add sitting for a long time is also not good
- I do not want to sell, up sell or try to get money out of people for other reasons
- I want to work from home most of the time and want an easy commute when I must
- An easy commute is not just about location, but the actual route, e.g. changing at London Bridge between train and tube is out as is anything in he (it seems many employers are moving here, which will only make the situation worse!)
- It must be in London not "London"
- Working for myself would be great, but incredibly difficult in my area of specialism and there is already loads of competition
- I should improve my existing European languages or take up Chinese or something else equally difficult
- Adverts try to make jobs sound more exciting or more than they are
- Customer park host - work on a car park
- Game Coordinator - basically a customer service person working in an Escape Room
- Talent and Culture Coordinator - something to do with HR
- Audio Visual Coordinator - meeting organiser with all relevant IT
- Talent Acquisition Coordinator - recruiter
- Guest Experience Support - customer service
- Gelato Artist - selling Italian ice cream
- Recreation Assistant - lifeguard
- General Hospitality Assistant - working in supermarket
- Income Recovery Administrator - debt collector
- There are also a lot of new work related terms
- Onboarding
- Immersion training
- Technologist
- Pizzaiolo
- Requirements Management
- Go Live
- Curation
- Staircasing
- Badging
- And jobs now tend to be
- Host
- Coordinator
- Lead
- Support
- Executive
- Specialist
- Associate
- Moderator
I will keep looking but, a bit like with the dating scene, things have changed so much.
